The Story of Honjin | Naeba
Honjin is a beautiful ryokan with a long history. It is situated on the Mikuni Highway which used to be a major trade route from Tokyo and has been in operation in one form or another for hundreds of years, offering a place to relax and recover to weary travelers. As you would expect from a ryokan with such a rich history it has perfected the art of hospitality. You can sense the history in many areas of the ryokan but right along side that, there are some great modern touches where renovations and updates have been carried out. The rooms are a study in simplicity with the stylish interiors and great views taking pride of place. The whole hotel is designed along the same theme and is very easy on the eye. There is a choice of onsen, some nice areas to relax and even a small museum out the back that lets you take a look at items from the ryokan's past.
